The physical appearance of this book of texts, interviews and essays on the subject of the representation of women in the history of art is itself indicative of change. With a layout grid allowing for infinite variations, the vertical, monochrome format gives pride of place to the text. The book is simple and economical in design, using monochrome halftone on offset paper. Bound into the centre is a 32-page portfolio that bursts in with its colourful and brilliant images. This contrasting section is echoed in the book’s dust jacket.
