Invitée à intervenir dans le cadre du week-end festif organisé pour le quarantième anniversaire du Centre Pompidou, j’ai proposé un lancer de confettis graphiques. Le projet rend hommage, pour chacune des séries, à une des spécificités graphiques du lieu: le logotype noir et blanc conçu par Jean Widmer, la gamme colorée primaire des tuyaux du bâtiment, et enfin la typographie historique du centre, qui ici compose des ‘40’ imprimés en encre dorée. Ces confettis géants ont été propulsés par des canons dans une ambiance jubilatoire, pour être ensuite récupérés au sol par les visiteurs comme un petit morceau (imprimé) de cette belle fête!

Invited to contribute to the weekend celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Centre Pompidou, I suggested a shower of graphic confetti. The designs of each of the different series refer to one of the graphic features of the centre: Jean Widmer’s black and white logo, the primary colours of the building’s pipes, and lastly the centre’s original typography, consisting here of the number 40 printed in gold. At a certain point during the celebrations, the giant confetti was shot out of cannons, the visitors picking up pieces from the ground to keep as a small (printed) souvenir of this joyful occasion!
