Dans ce texte écrit par Laure Limongi, les hommes coexistent avec des androïdes intelligents. L’un d’eux, Silvio, au contact de celle qui semble un double de l’écrivain, décide à la fois de mémoriser les données existantes sur les langues éteintes, de sauver les langues en voie de disparition, et de créer un langage… En écho à cette fiction, ce livre n’est pas relié. Il prend néanmoins corps par la magie des plis, déplis et replis, et peut se déployer dans l’espace. Il invite ainsi à une lecture différente, une lecture de résistance. En affirmant fort sa matérialité iconoclaste, il fait écho aux langues qui disparaissent. Les six rabats de la jaquette-couverture invitent à un jeu de composition/décomposition avec le mystérieux titre du livre. Le corps du livre (ses pages intérieures) est un dépliant-accordéon horizontal: la lecture suit le fil d’une pagination zigzag. La liste des langues récemment disparues est traitée en annexe comme un dépliant-accordéon vertical, une liste se déployant elle aussi en boucle… L’ensemble du livre peut être mis à plat, puis reconstruit, comme un espace potentiel.

In this text written by Laure Limongi, humans coexist with intelligent androids. One of these, Silvio, through contact with a woman who seems to be a double of the writer, decides to memorise the existing data on extinct languages, to save those languages on the road to extinction and also to create a language… As if to echo this story, this book is not bound. It takes substance, nevertheless, from the magic of its folds, folded and unfolded, and can be opened up in space. It invites us to a different kind of reading, resistance reading. In loudly proclaiming its iconoclastic materiality, it gives echo to languages that are disappearing. The six flaps of the covering jacket prompt a game of composition/decomposition with the mysterious title of the book. The body of the book (the inner pages) is a concertina-like horizontal leaflet, the text laid out on a zigzag pagination. A list of recently extinct languages is given as an appendix. Arranged on a vertical concertina leaflet the list can be viewed as a continuous loop… The whole book can be flattened out and then reconstructed, like a potential space.
