d’habillages en Babillages,
le métissage des papiers
produit une belle panoplie
pour notre Babi…

Mille formes est un centre d’art pour les jeunes enfants, situé à Clermont-Ferrand. Invitée à y concevoir un atelier itinérant, j’ai imaginé le projet Babillages, basé sur le principe de la poupée en papier. Le projet a une dimension ludique tout en offrant un champ d’expérimentation intéressant en écho à ma pratique graphique. La synergie entre un archétype familier (le jouet) et la matière papier (incarnée d’habitude par le livre ou de dessin) ouvre la voie vers une «magie du papier»: matérialité, composition, motif, couleur, transformation par le pli, relation magique entre recto et verso… La scénographie, conçue par Grégoire Romanet, déploie de petites tables à langer à la manière d’une farandole!

Mille Formes is an art centre for young children in Clermont-Ferrand. Invited to come up with a travelling workshop, I designed the Babillages project, based on the idea of paper dolls. Not only is the activity fun but it also leads to interesting experimentation in tune with my graphic design interests. The synergy between a familiar archetype (a toy) and paper (normally encountered in a book or in connection with drawing) opens the way to “paper magic”: materiality, composition, motif, colour, transformation through folding and the magical relationship between one side of a piece of paper and the other… The setting for the activity, designed by Grégoire Romanet, provides the children with small changing tables linked together like a chain of paper dolls!
