Ce projet éditorial prend appui, dans le fond comme dans la forme, sur l’idée du nuancier et de la boîte à couleurs, chère aux impressionnistes pour aller peindre «sur le motif». L’approche sensible et novatrice de la couleur est rendue palpable grâce à ce parti-pris éditorial, qui apparente le livre à un «outil» de découverte. Le système de volets dépliants appuie cette analogie avec la boîte, et permet une découverte en deux temps, ainsi qu’une lecture organisée en compartiments, afin d’explorer des notions variées: gamme, échelle, harmonie, détail ou touche… Accompagnés par les textes ciselés de Clémence Simon, les enfants sont invités à s’immerger dans les tableaux pour explorer toutes les teintes poétiques qui composent les chefs-d’œuvre du musée d’Orsay.

This publication is based, in both form and content, on the idea of the colour chart and the paintbox, the latter so dear to the Impressionists when painting en plein air. Their sensitive and innovative approach to colour is made tangible thanks to the design of the book, likening it to a “tool” of discovery. The system of folding flaps reinforces the analogy with a box, and allows for a two-stage discovery, while the text is organized into sections in order to explore various notions: range, scale, harmony, detail or touch... Accompanied by the exquisite texts by Clémence Simon, children are invited to immerse themselves in the paintings to explore all the poetic hues that make up the masterpieces of the Musée d’Orsay.
